Robert P. Bruce, MD Orthopedic Surgeon and Sports Medicine Physician
Robert P. Bruce, MD
I have been a part of Kansas City Bone & Joint clinic since 1988. I am board certified in Orthopedic Surgery and have and fellowship trained in sports medicine. I enjoy doing a lot of arthroscopic knee and shoulder surgery. I also perform anterior total hip replacement which I believe has revolutionized hip replacement surgery. Minimally invasive knee replacement is also something I am very proud of.
Taking care of athletes is a great experience. I have been a team physician for St. Thomas Aquinas High School, Shawnee Mission East and Shawnee Mission South high schools. I was also the Orthopaedic Surgeon for the Kansas City Ballet from 1996 through 2007.
I earned my undergraduate degree at Kansas State University and graduated from medical school at the University of Kansas, School of Medicine. I completed my residency at KU in Orthopaedic Surgery and then went on for my fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania, specializing in Sports Medicine.
Keeping current with medical advancements is important. Participating in Operation Walk USA has been very rewarding, giving to those that cannot afford. Being able to improve the lives of so many makes me love Orthopaedic Surgery.
I am also a member of (AAOS) American Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
Outside of the office, I enjoy traveling and photography.
