Trick or Treat Ultimate Check List
Trick or Treat Ultimate Check List
Trick or Treat

Fall is all about cooler weather, leaves changing color and of course-Halloween! Halloween is fun time for everyone. From children going trick or treating to adults passing out candy. There is fun to be had by all. It is important to keep safety in mind when having such a busy night of activities.

Here’s the ultimate check list:

  • Trick or treat in areas that you are familiar with and with people that you know. If someone happens to wander off it will be easy for them to make their way back and could have a potential meeting spot.
  • Be mindful of yard decorations and use driveways and walk ways to get to the front porch. This will avoid any trips and falls.
  • If going out in large groups and use a buddy system. Keep a head count and check as needed.
  • Set a curfew, no reason for little ones to be out late past their bedtime!!

  • Check for any questionable or opened candy. Candy can be very tempting, its best to wait until you are at home in good lighting.
  • Make sure to use sidewalks when available! With so many kids and adults driving around in the dark the sidewalk is the safest place to be. Remember to look both ways before crossing the street.
  • Try trick or treating along the streets instead of crossing the street each time while going house to house.
  • Use flash lights to help see while walking in a dark neighborhood and give the kids glow sticks to wear with their costumes.

Missouri and Kansas weather is often unpredictable so be prepared to dress accordingly.

A hat with gloves or an extra layer of clothes under a costume could make a huge difference. Also make sure you are wearing appropriate shoes. Tennis shoes are the best option, especially when walking for long periods of time.

Costumes can be fun but also need to be safe. Make sure you are able to see through masks and long parts or a dress doesn’t become a trip hazard.

By putting safety first and being prepared for Halloween night everyone will have a fun time!
