Josef Maier, PA-C
I am a board certified Physician Assistant with Kansas City Bone and Joint Clinic, working with Dr. Robert Bruce and Dr. Stephen Hiatt. I joined this fantastic KCBJ family in June of 2018. Before returning to the Kansas City area, I had the great pleasure of working in orthopedic hand and upper extremity surgery for over 12 years in the Bay Area of California.
I received my undergraduate degree from Wichita State University with a Major in Biology and a Minor in Chemistry. After time well-spent working as an Orthopedic Technician, I decided to further my career at the University of New England where I received my Master’s of Physician Assistant Studies in 2006.
My commitment to the field of orthopedics led me to pursue a Certificate of Additional Qualification (CAQ) in orthopedic surgery by the National commission on Certification of Physicians Assistants. I have held this additional board qualifications since 2012.
I hold memberships in the American Academy of Physicians Assistants (AAPA), Kansas Academy of Physicians Assistants (KAPA) and Physicians Assistants in Orthopedic Surgery (PAOS).
When I am not in the office, you will find me enjoying time with my wife and children, exploring local music, theater, and art scenes, playing bass guitar, hiking, camping, and wishing Kansas was closer to an ocean.
I love what I do for a living, including spending most of my day battling the effects of gravity. Whether you experience those effects on well-worn joints or the unfortunate fracture injury from a bad fall, I can be of immediate assistance. When gravity gets you down, please allow me to help you back up!
