To scribe or not to scribe…not a question for Kansas City Bone and Joint Clinic

If you have been to Kansas City Bone and Joint Clinic within the last 20 years, you would have most likely noticed a person shadowing your provider. No, they are not there for the physician’s moral support or to discuss weather climate changes. They are there to be able to record your visit for you and for the physician.

But why use scribes?

  • Better and more accurate information to go into your chart to keep your records as complete and correct as possible.
  • Allow physical therapy, diagnostic tests such as MRI and Ultrasound and to be written immediately so our precertification department can begin approving these orders with your insurance company so that you may have this scheduled before you leave our building.
  • Amazingly with advancement in technology, the scribe is able to “e-prescribe”/fax your prescription to the pharmacy right from the room.
  • The scribe may also assist in helping the provider with any office procedures that you may need at the time of your visit such as casting or suture removal.

Scribes are utilized in our office to allow the focus of the physician to be on what is most important…. YOU!
