“You’re a medical practice, why are you on Pinterest as a business?”

I get that question a lot, in fact for the first 2 months we joined Pinterest, I was getting the question from my co-workers. Oh and “um what is Pinterest? I looked at it but don’t get it”

I began to explain this answer to my co-workers and friends so I thought I would share the basics here too.

What is it?

Basically Pinterest is a virtual organizer. Yes, it is like copying down your favorite stuff and organizing it to how it makes sense to you.

Think of it when your mom had the old recipe box. She had the appetizers in one section, the main dishes in one section and desserts in another section. Well, now put pictures with all of those recipes and picture it on your computer screen. You can organize the same way on Pinterest you used to in your old file system. After you have figured your recipes, add fitness tips, great outfits, how to take great pictures and what to do on Dr. Seuss day and you have your Pinterest boards.

There is no rule on what you name your boards or what you pin. You can pin from someone else or you can pin off of the web. Pinterest has a great help section to walk you through this.

KCBJ on Pinterest?

Pinning is a great way to organize. Our group of physicians and staff have great ideas, from what to cook for the lunch program here at KCBJ to what fitness tip to focus on this month. We believe Pinterest is a great way to show all of our interests on one great big virtual pinboard.

Here is a list of just a few of our boards:

  • News and articles
  • Funny stuff
  • Health and Wellness tips
  • Fitness tips
  • Patient Education
  • Recipes
  • House hold tips
  • Fun Crafts
  • Fundraising events
  • Seasonal

So jump on Pinterest, you don’t have to join to check out our page. You might find some great tip, trick or project to do.

Oh and one last note, you may ask “You get paid to pin?” Absolutely well, don’t be too jealous, I have other job duties as well. But just so you know, if you can keep a secret… pinning is my favorite!
