It’s a New Year and now it is time for a new you. You have determined to get back into the gym and remove the holiday weight once and for good. Before hitting the gym full blast, please remember these important safety tips.

Doctor Clearance – Yes you need doctor clearance. A yearly check up with your doctor and approval from him or her is recommended before beginning any exercise program.

Warm Up – Don’t skip it. Everyone wants to but we recommend 5 minutes of an easy warm up to get your blood flowing to your muscles to prevent injury.

Work into it – Do not jump onto the treadmill and run three miles off the bat. It is important for your body to slowly increase cardiovascularly and in strength training to keep you safe.

Look at your form - too many injuries occur in the gym by not using proper technique. If you need help in this area, please consider a personal trainer.

Cool Down - Don’t skip this either- Stretching and cooling your body down is important.

Here is to a new you and a fresh start. Only you can change yourself.
